SUMMIT MARTIAL ARTS YOUTH & TEEN PROGRAMs
Summit Martial Arts offers both Jiujitsu and Karate for Kids and Teens. Classes are fun, exciting and teach real self defense, improve fitness, and most importantly tools for a happy, successful life; disipline, determination, confidence, and commitment to set and accomplish goal.
Many kids and teens today are smart, and have great personalities but are just too shy and reserved to share it with the world. Could achieve amazing things, but have low self esteem and it that holds them back from their true potential. Powerful minds and big dreams but not enough courage or ambition to chase them. Smart but difficulty focusing due to short attention spans or conditions such as ADD and ADHD. Lots of energy but its directed toward video games, TV, youtube and other “digital dangers” that keep them glued to the couch.
We all want our kids to change the world and make an impact on future generations. Teaching how to reach work for and reach goals, through a focus on earning rank through hard work and achieving goals, incrementally reaching goals step-by-step. All while instilling values such as kindness, empathy, respect, humility, and discipline.
In authentic martial arts respect, self-control and humility are the most important things to learn. Kids learn to listen attentively to their elders. It starts with a good attitude and by learning one thing at a time correctly. Do it right, do it again (practice), then put it into a combination of moves. Once kids realize they can accomplish amazing things by simply paying attention, they begin listening in other areas of life as well.
We teach children that most situations can be resolved through communication, by seeking out an authority such as a parent or teacher and thoroughly explaining the situation. We never want to see kids use their Martial Arts skills in the outside world, but neither are they anyone's punching bag. In the case they need to protect themselves, we believe understanding how to respond to a threat is invaluable.
We all want our kids to be healthy, happy, confident, smart and safe. Our youth/teen karate and jiu jitsu programs have been specirically designed to help children 7-10 years and teens 11-14 years old to develop focus, concentration, confidence and determination to obtain their goals, all while learning the world's best self-defense systems.
Here at Summit Martial Arts, we understand that enrollment is just as much about the parent's and family's dedication as it is about the child's. The commitment to team up with you for the benefit of your kids is our top priority. Together, between home, school and the dojo we can teach them the value of respect, manners, hard work, self discipline, self control and teamwork. All these attributes are very important in karate and jiu jitsu, but they're even more important for a successful, fulfilling life. As a parent of a student at Summit Martial Arts, you will see many improvements both inside and outside the dojo.

My son has been taking Karate at Summit Martial Arts for 7 years. Over that time, I have watched him grow and mature from child to a true Martial Artist. He has learned qualities at Summit that will be with him for the rest of his life. He has made lifelong friends and had fun along the way. The Dojo has a great youth program that teaches respect, character, etiquette, self control, and self confidence. I can’t wait to see what the future holds for my son at Summit Martial Arts.

Not only will your child move around a lot, but they’ll also build on their strength and flexibility. There are seven primal movements the human can perform: Pull, Push, Squat, Lunge, Hinge, Rotation, and Gait, we work all of them every class plus amazing martial arts skills and how to breath correctly. Getting physical in a safe padded environment rolling, running, punching, kicking, rolling or wrestle, Summit Martial Arts offers a safe environment in which to do it. Learning how to punch and kick bags, how to land safely if they fall backwards and how to block someone else’s punches or kicks. It’s much safer than practising on their siblings on the family room floor!

STRANGER DANGER
There are some bad people in the world, and it is our job to prepare and protect our kids. Stanger Danger is Role play based training that your child gets to practice worst case scenarios, learn self defense skills and how to fight to get away. This also creates an opportunity for a parent child dialogue to discuss scenario in more detail. Protecting our children has never been more serious than in todays world.
BULLY PREVENTION
The Summit Martial Arts Bully Defense System main mission is to instill in your child unshakable confidence so they can overcome bullies, hopefully without violence. Each day in the United States, an estimated 150,000 kids miss school due to fear or intimidation of bullies. Anxiety, worry, depression, lack of friends causing significant impact in daily life. The fear of bullying may be the leading cause of low self-confidence in children. These negative experiences often create psychological trauma that might last a lifetime. At Summit Martial Arts we follow five simple principles:
RULE 1: TRY TO AVOID A FIGHT IF POSSIBLE. (BUT YOU’RE NOT ANYONE’S PUNCHING BAG! PERIOD!)
RULE 2: IF PHYSICALLY ATTACKED, DEFEND YOURSELF, WITH JUST ENOUGH DEFENSE TO STOP THE ATTACK.
RULE 3: IF VERBALLY ATTACKED, KEEP YOUR HANDS UP AND HAVE A GOOD STANCE, BE READY TO DEFEND, TALK TO DEFUSE OR DE-ESCALATE THE SITUATION OR LEAVE IF POSSIBLE, TELL PARENTS, TEACHER, SENSEI AND AUTHORITIES.
RULE 4: AVOID PUNCHING OR KICKING THE BULLY IF POSSIBLE, TRY TO ESTABLISH CONTROL AND NEGOTIATE WHENEVER POSSIBLE.
RULE 5: WHEN APPLYING SUBMISSIONS USE MINIMAL FORCE AND NEGOTIATE. WE DO NOT TEACH DANGEROUS CHOKES TO KIDS.

- Schools must publish their policies in the student handbook, so review your son’s handbook and read the policy carefully. Report the incident by calling the school principal and documenting it in writing through a letter or email. Keep records of your contact and follow up to ensure that the policy is implemented appropriately. Ask the school to inform you of the steps taken to prevent future problems.
- If school school fails to act appropriately regarding harassment, assault, stalking, cyberbulling, etc.
- We also recommend Parents sit down and discuss best case and worst case situation, and explain their expectations and that they have childs back no matter what. Kids don't know
I am the parent of two students attending Summit Martial Arts. I am very pleased with every aspect of the Dojo. The skills they have learned are real. The friends they have made are wonderful. Since they have become students I have seen improvement in everything from physical fitness to self esteem. We are all very proud to be part of the Summit Martial Arts Family.

My two children are learning martial arts, and having fun at the same time. The instructors teach them respect, self-control, and self-discipline. Although they teach them never to go looking for a fight, should something happen they know how to defend themselves. The training here at Summit Martial Arts has boosted their confidence greatly.
