SUMMIT MARTIAL ARTS YOUTH & TEEN PROGRAMs

We all want our kids healthy, happy, confident, smart and safe.
Our Youth & Teen Karate and  Jiu-Jitsu programs have been specifically designed to help children 7-10 years and Teens 11-14 years years old to develop focus, concentration, outlet, confidence, and determination to obtain ones' goals. While learning the worlds best self-defense systems.

The kids are the ones doing the class, however at Summit Martial Arts we understand enrollment is just as much the parents’ and family's dedication. The dedication to team up for the benefit of your kids is our top priority. Home, school dojo, and in life. Respect, manners, hard work, self disipline, self control, and teamwork are very important Karate and Jiujitsu attributes, but they are even more important for a successful happy life. As a parent enrolling your child in Jiu-jitsu or Karate, you will see many improvements even in the first few lessons, both inside and outside of the academy.

Our Karate and Jiu-Jitsu programs are the ideal method of self-defense for kids since it emphasizes leverage and technique over strength and power. This focus makes it possible for all children to excel, regardless of their size or athletic ability.

Combining personal growth, self-defense classes, International Certified Instructors, a safe clean enviroment and professionalism, is why Summit Martial Arts is an award winning martial arts organization. Parents know that their children are being taught by professionals with decades of experience, and that the training they receive provides benefits far beyond self-defense.

Youth/Teen Programs
Along with the physical training and the highest quality traditional Karate-Jiujitsu-Kobudo techniques, our youth/junior student curriculum consists of detailed instruction in the following programs.

Get Active

Of course, one of the most obvious benefits of Martial Arts for kids is that it includes a physical activity component. Not only will your child move around a lot, but they’ll also build on their strength and flexibility. There are seven primal movements the human can perform: Pull, Push, Squat, Lunge, Hinge, Rotation, and Gait, we work all of them every class plus amazing martial arts skills and how to breath correctly.
Getting physical in a safe padded environment rolling, running, punching, kicking, rolling or wrestle, Summit Martial Arts offers a safe environment in which to do it. Learning how to punch and kick bags, how to land safely if they fall backwards and how to block someone else’s punches or kicks. It’s much safer than practising on their siblings on the family room floor!

The 5 Step Success Plan Goal Setting & Self-Improvement
This program is a road map to teach young people how to set goals, take action and stay on track to accomplish them successfully.

Summit Martial Arts has a belt or ranking system is awarded for their learning with a great attitude in class, working well with others, personal practice to improve, and becoming proficient at required skills. Focusing on a goal such as achieving a new rank or belt is a great way to learn about goal-setting and motivation.

ABC’s of Conflict Avoidance
An 8-step program on how to avoid conflict and respond appropriately to danger. When our students understands how to stay out of dangerous situations, to communicate under pressure, use proper body language to look confident, maintain self-control, and knowing they can defend themselves as a last resort. They become more confident, bullies and thugs tend to back off.  Bullies and bad guys are looking for a Soft target: a person or thing that is relatively unprotected, weak, and vulnerable. You might think that Martial Arts is about fighting but it’s quite the opposite in most cases. Summit Martial Arts starts building skills and confidence with a focus on self-defence, but also how to stop the situation. A Hard-target: is a person who, due to advance planning and preparations, their actions and/or appropriate protective measures, is able to minimize existing risks and thus most likely represents an unattractive target. The ultimate aim of Martial Arts is to teach children and Teens peaceful, non-violent conflict resolution skills and to help them work out ways to avoid physical altercations. Summit Martial Arts has a lot to offer children and teens. It gets them active and teaches them to be confident, respectful, peaceful and focused. Plus, if your child grows to love it, they can continue practising into adulthood where they will reap many additional benefits.

A – Avoid Potentially Dangerous Situations
B – Be Calm, Breathe Deep
C – Communicate with Confidence and Respect
D – Don’t Put Yourself in A Worse Situation
E – Environment Can Be Used to Your Advantage
F – Stands For Yelling “FIRE” Instead of “HELP”
G – Get Away to safe location
H – Hit Hard, Hit Fast, Hit First (If they attack)

STRANGER DANGER
There are some bad people in the world, and it is our job to prepare and protect our kids. Stanger Danger is Role play based training that your child gets to practice worst case scenarios, learn self defense skills and how to fight to get away. This also creates an opportunity for a parent child dialogue to discuss scenario in more detail. Protecting our children has never been more serious than in todays world
  • Every 40 seconds in the United States, a child becomes missing or is abducted.
  • 1 in 5 children 10-17 years old receive unwanted sexual solicitations online

BULLY PREVENTION
The Summit Martial Arts Bully Defense System main mission is to instill in your child unshakable confidence so they can overcome bullies, hopefully without violence. Each day in the United States, an estimated 150,000 kids miss school due to fear or intimidation of bullies. Anxiety, worry, depression, lack of friends causing significant impact in daily life. The fear of bullying may be the leading cause of low self-confidence in children. These negative experiences often create psychological trauma that might last a lifetime. At Summit Martial Arts we follow five simple principles:

RULE 1: TRY TO AVOID A FIGHT IF POSSIBLE. (BUT YOU’RE NOT ANYONE’S PUNCHING BAG! PERIOD!)
RULE 2: IF PHYSICALLY ATTACKED, DEFEND YOURSELF, WITH JUST ENOUGH DEFENSE TO STOP THE ATTACK.
RULE 3: IF VERBALLY ATTACKED, KEEP YOUR HANDS UP AND HAVE A GOOD STANCE, BE READY TO DEFEND, TALK TO DEFUSE OR DE-ESCALATE THE SITUATION OR LEAVE IF POSSIBLE, TELL PARENTS, TEACHER, SENSEI AND AUTHORITIES.
RULE 4: AVOID PUNCHING OR KICKING THE BULLY IF POSSIBLE, TRY TO ESTABLISH CONTROL AND NEGOTIATE WHENEVER POSSIBLE.
RULE 5: WHEN APPLYING SUBMISSIONS USE MINIMAL FORCE AND NEGOTIATE. WE DO NOT TEACH DANGEROUS CHOKES TO KIDS.

  • 28% of U.S. students in grades 6–12 experienced bullying
  • 20% of U.S. students in grades 9–12 experienced bullying
  • Schools must publish their policies in the student handbook, so review your son’s handbook and read the policy carefully. Report the incident by calling the school principal and documenting it in writing through a letter or email. Keep records of your contact and follow up to ensure that the policy is implemented appropriately. Ask the school to inform you of the steps taken to prevent future problems.
  • If school school fails to act appropriately regarding harassment, assault, stalking, cyberbulling, etc.
  • We also recommend Parents sit down and discuss best case and worst case situation, and explain their expectations and that they have childs back no matter what. Kids don't know

Building Self-Esteem and Confidence
Learning new skills increases children’s confidence and self-esteem. They’ll also need to work together with other students in the class and even perform their skills in front of people during grading or special events.

Learn Respect and Listening Skills
Respect and Self Control are the most important lessons in the martial arts. Respecting your Parents, Grandparents, Siblings, Instructor and Teachers is an important part of Summit Martial Arts. Children need to listen to and follow instructions in order to learn new moves and skills.
We require teamwork and communication in class and at home. While Martial Arts is typically done as an individual, team work is still a vital part of success. Working in pairs and groups is often used to teach sparring or to work on moves. Being part of a Dojo also creates a sense of belonging and creates lifelong friendships.
Chores at home are also part of rank requirement, and are a way for an individual to grow, to contribute to family, school, dojo. Build confidence, independence, work ethic, and build character. Learning from their elders both at dojo and at home. Intermediate and advance students are develop leadership skills helping others, leading warmups, and setting proper examples.
